General information

"Tiberiu Popoviciu" Institute of Numerical Analysis was founded in 1957 by Prof. Tiberiu Popoviciu in order to develop the theoretical and applied researches in computer science. At present, only the mathematical research on numerical algorithms is maintained. The main domains of research are:

• Numerical analysis
• Approximation theory
• Nonlinear functional analysis
• Dynamical systems
• Mathematical models
• Numerical simulation

The abbreviation ICTP comes from the Romanian name of the institute "Institutul de Calcul Tiberiu Popoviciu"

ICTP is one of the mathematical institutes of the Section of Mathematical Sciences of the Romanian Academy and is part of the Cluj-Napoca Branch of the Romanian Academy

Director of ICTP is the senior researcher Dr. Emil Cătinaş

ICTP coordinates the editing of two journals published by the Academy Publishing House:

• Mathematica-Cluj
• Revue d'Analyse Numérique et de Théorie de l'Approximation (ANTA)

ICTP has a library with more than 25.000 books and journals
