On the inverse problem of Dynamics for generalized Lagrangian systems

Abstract

A system of partial differential equations for the force function \(U\) (hence for the potential function -\(U\)) is given when one knows a family of orbits for a generalized Lagrangian system; this is a generalization not only of the results of Szbehely for 2-dimensional conservative systems but also of those of Dramba for the planar circular restricted three-body probem.
