Best approximation in spaces with asymmetric norm

Abstract In this paper we shall present some results on spaces with asymmetric seminorms, with emphasis on best approximation problems…

Best uniform approximation of semi-Lipschitz function by extension

Abstract In this paper we consider the problem of best uniform approximation of a real valued semi-Lipschitz function \(F\) defined…

Best uniform approximation of a bounded function by extensions of semi-Lipschitz functions

Abstract In this note we consider the problem of best uniform approximation of a real valued bounded function \(f\) defined…

On a theorem of Baire about lower semi-continuous functions

Abstract A theorem of Baire concerning the approximation of lower semicontinuous real valued functions defined on a metric space, by…

Extensions of semi-Hölder real valued functions on a quasi-metric space

Abstract In this note, the semi-Holder real valued functions on a quasi-metric (asymmetric metric) space are defined. An extension theorem…

On the existence and uniqueness of extensions of semi-Holder real-valued functions

Abstract Let \((X,d)\) be a quasi-metric space, \(y_{0}\in X\) a fixed element and \(Y\) a subset of \(X\) such that…

Accurate Laguerre collocation solutions to a class of Emden–Fowler type BVP

Abstract We solve numerically the nonlinear and double singular boundary value problem formed by the well known Emden-Fowler equation \(u^{\prime\prime}=u^{s}x^{-1/2},s>1\)…

Two numerical methods for solving a nonlinear system of integral equations of mixed Volterra-Fredholm type arising from a control problem related to leukemia

Abstract The aim of this paper is to present two algorithms for numerical solving of a fixed final state control…
