Privind activitatea Institutului de Calcul “Tiberiu Popoviciu” al Academiei Romane, Filiala Cluj-Napoca
I. Activitatea de cercetare
In planul de cercetare al institutul pe anul 2001 figureaza 3 programe de cercetare:
Programul 1. “Metode numerice de rezolvare a ecuatiilor in spatii finit dimensionale, cu aplicatii la rezolvarea ecuatiilor in spatii infinit dimensionale”.
In cadrul acestui program au fost publicate, in acest an, lucrarile [1], [2], [3], [6], [9], [10], [13], [14], [15], [16], [18], [21], unele din aceste rezultate au fast obtinute in anul trecut iar unele au fast obtinute in acest an. Pe langa acestea s-au mai obtinut rezultatele din lucrarile [4], [5], [7], [9], [11], [12], [17], [19], [20], [21], unele au fost predate spre publicare, iar altele au fost redactate si urmeaza sa fie predate spre publicare. In aceste lucrari au fost obtinute in principal urmatoarele rezultate:
In [5] s-au dat conditii necesare si suficiente pentru ca Metoda lui Newton Inexact. Perturbata aplicata sistemelor neliniare in Rn sa convearga superliniar.. Pentru abordarea numerica a aproximarii solutiilor sistemelor, metoda lui Newton-inexact-perturbata a fost pusa in legatura cu metodele de tip Krilov pentru sisteme liniare. S-au dat conditii de convergenta si stabilitate numerica. Exemplele numerice, tratate pe anumite probleme test din literatura maternatica, au ilustrat din plin rezultatele teoretice..
In lucrarea [6] se studiaza posibilitatea accelerarii convergentei aproximatiior succesive prin adaugarea unor termeni. Intr-o lucrare anterioara acesti termeni erau priviti ca surse de erori, aici sunt priviti ca termeni ce trebuie adaugati pentru a obtine ordine inalte de convergenta (desigur, cazul interesant este cel in care fara acesti termeni iteratiile nemodificate converg doar liniar)..
In lucrarea [8] se analizeaza legatura dintre trei modele (doua clasice metoda quasi-Newton si metoda Newton inexacta si metoda Newton inexacta rezolvata inexact, propusa recent de autor). S-a obtinut ca convergenta cu ordin inalt a oricarei din aceste metode poate fi studiata cu ajutorul celorlalte doua metode..
In lucrarea [22] se caracterizeaza convergenta cu ordin inalt a aproxirnatiilor successive. Se obtine ca traiectoriile rapid convergente sunt restranse le un subspatiu afin, fiind extinsi in mod natural teorema lui Ostrowski de punct fix de atractie.. Se caracterizeaza de asemenea si convergenta cu ordin inalt a aproxirnatiilor succesive in prezenta unor surse de erori.
In lucrarea [23] se studiaza convergenta metodei Newton perturbate rezolvata inexact (introdusa de autor) in cazul in care Jacobianul aplicatiei neliniare este singular in (si posibil in jurul) solutiei. Exista putine rezultate publicate in aceasta directie, si abordarea noastra foloseste o directie cu totul noua.
In lucrarea (24] se studiaza convergenta metodei Newton-Krilov pentru cazul in care produsele matrice-vector de la fiecare pas interior dintr-un algoritm Krilov sunt aproximate prin diferente finite (la limita-derivata Gateaux). Se obtin atat rezultate de convergenta locala, cat si rezultate cu privire la controlul erorilor in virgula mobile..
In lucrarile [1], [2], [3], [4] s-a studiat o clasa noua de metode de tip Halley, numite de catre autor Steffensen-Halley sau Aitken-Halley. Aceste metode au ordinul de convergenta cel putin 3 si pe langa aceasta, la fiecare pas de iteratie se obtin atat aproximatii prin lipsa cat si prin adaus ale solutiei ecuatiei considerate.. Acest fapt permite un control, al erorilor, la fiecare pas de iteratie si deci oprirea procesului de calcul atunci cand erorile sunt cele dorite.
In lucrarile [13] – [17] au fost rafinate anumite conditii de convergenta privind procedeele Mann si Isikawa pentru aproximarea solutiilor ecuatiilor operatoriale. Metoda necunoscutelor de crestere a fost conceputa de R. Teman in anul 1990, ca mijloc de aproximare a varietatilor inertiale ce apar in teoria sistemelor dinamice. in timp s-a dovedit o rnetoda foarte utila in rezolvarea numerics a problemelor eliptice liniare, constituind o metoda de preconditionare.
In lucrarile [9], [11], [12] metoda necunoscutelor de crestere este aplicata in rezolvarea unor probleme de convectie – difuzie. Aceasta metoda, aplicata la probleme singular perturbate conduce la rezultate satisfacatoare din punct de vedere al costului calculului, eliminand totodata oscilatiile mari din zona stratului limita. in cazul problemelor singular perturbate anizotropice se utilizeaza o metoda a necunoscutelor de crestere “bloc”, fapt ce conduce la rnicsorarea semnificativa a numarului de conditionare a matricii generata de metoda.
Un pas important in dezvoltarea unei analize matematice pe spatii qvasi-metrice il constituie studiul functiilor reale definite pe acestea. in lucrarile [18], [ 19], [20] se studiaza problema existentei si unicitatii extensiei cu proprietati prescrise a unei functii semi-Lipschitz definita pe o submultime data a unui spatiu qvasi-metric. Se demonstreaza o teorema de extensie cu pastrarea celei mai mici constante semi-Lipschitz. in ipoteza ca spatiul quasi-metric este liniar se cerceteaza posibilitatea extensiei unei functii semi-Lipschitz convexa (sau stelara) de pe o subrnultime convexa (stelara) pe intreg spatiul qvasi-metric cu pastrarea celei mai mici constante semi-Lipschitz ~i a convexitatii (stelaritatii). Deoarece nu exista functii convexe marginite pe un subspatiu al unui spatiu liniar cu valori reale, dar exista astfel de functii stelare se studiaza posibilitatea extinderii unei functii reale stelare ~i marginite cu pastrarea celei mai mici constante semi-Lipschitz, a normei uniforme ~i a stelaritatii. Este studiata ~i problema unicitatii extensiei cu pastrarea unor proprietati sup Iimen tare (convexitate, stelaritate, norma uniforma).
In lucrarea [21] s-a considerat o clasa de operatori liniari de aproximare in a carer expresie intervine sirul bazic asociat unui delta operator, cat si un sir Sheffer pentru acelas delta operator. S-a calculat valorile acestor operatori pentru functiile de proba si s-au dat conditiile de convergenta ~i evaluarea ordinului de aproximare.
Rezultatele obtinute in acest an, privind programul 1 de cercetare, sunt consistente si dovedesc conrributia fiecarui cercetator la indeplinirea obiectivelor pr~puse pentru acest an. Prin rezultatele obtinute consideram ca programul a fost realizat integral.
Programul 2. Studiul calitativ al problemei inverse si al celei directe a dinamicii.
In cadrul acestui program a lucrat un singur cercetator si s-au obtinut urmatoarele rezultate:
Problema inversa a dinamicii in plan, in formularea clasica, are ca obiect deterrninarea unui potential V(x,y) sub actiunea caruia un punct material descrie o familie data de curbe. Pentru studiul acestei probleme dispunem de o ecuatie cu derivate partiale de ordinul intai in V, data de Szebehely (1974), care contine si dependenta energiei totale de familia de curbe, precum si de o ecuatie cu derivate partiale de ordinul al doilea, obtinuta de Bozis (1984). 0 sinteza la zi a cercetarilor in domeniu se gaseste in” lucrarea [3]. in lucrarile din domeniu, de pana acum, s-a exclus cazul familiilor de drepte. Producerea acestor familii speciale este studiata in detaliu in lucrare [I], demonstrandu-se ca exista potentiale care pot produce acest tip de miscare. S-a obtinut o ecuatie cu derivate partiale pe care functia pqt~ntial??????? o verifica, $t s-au de~~ipat ???????? clase de solutii pentru acea ecuatie.
Rezultatele au fost extinse in lucrare [2], de la cazul sistemelor inertiale de coordonate, la cele rotitoare. S-a obtinut si aici o ecuatie cu derivate partiale, mult mai complicata, pe care trebuie sa o indeplineasca functia ce corespunde in acest caz potentialului. S-au construit exemple de familii de drepte care pot fi descrise de punctul material in acest caz. ·
In ceea ce priveste problema directa a dinamicii, in care se cauta familii de curbe care pot fi descrise sub actiunea unui potential dat, studiul se bazeaza de asemenea pe existenta unor ecuatii cu derivate partiale. Ecuatia de ordinul doi este neliniara si de aceea, s-a abordat gasirea unor solutii irnpunand o conditie suplimentara, sub forma unei ecuatii liniare cu derivate partiale de ordinul intai. Rezultatele obtinute in lucrarea [4] le generalizeaza pe cele deja obtinute pentru cazul familiilor de curbe descrise prin functii omogene, respectiv al familiilor pentru care panta depinde doar de una din variabile. In elaborarea lucrarilor a avut un rol insemnat colaborarea cerc.pr.gr.II dr.Mira Anisiu cu prof G. Bozis, de la Universitatea din Thesalonic si dr. Cristina Blaga, de la Observatorul Astronomic Cluj-Napoca.
Obiectivul pe acest an din programul II de cercetare a fost realizat integral, rezultatele obtinute in cadrul programului aduc contributii importante in domeniul studiat.
Programul 3. Analiza numerica a unor probleme parabolice semihniare.
In cadrul acestui program au lucrat 3 cercetatori si s-au obtinut urmatoarele rezultate:
In lucrarile [6] – [1 O], pentru rezolvarea numerica a ecuatiei parabolice de advectie-difuzie in camp de viteze aleator s-a realizat o forma generalizata a algoritmului mersului la intamplare. In cazul difuziei in materiale poroase eterogene acest algoritm reduce semnificativ memoria necesara ~i timpul de calcul. Cu ajutorul lui s-au efectuat simularea comportarii asimptotice a difuziei intr-un camp aleator de viteze cu un corficient de corelatie exponential obtinand rezultate similare cu cele deduse teoretic. in continuare se va aplica algoritmul generalizat si altor procese de difuzie complexe cu importanta practica in hidrologie. In lucrarea [4] dupa prezentarea notiunilor de baza de teoria sistemelor dinamice, teorie stchastica si fizica statica, lucrarea se axeaza pe studiul difuziei in campuri aleatoare de viteze. Folosind medii grosiere spatio-temporale se deduc campuri macroscopice aproape peste tot continue care satisfac relatii de forma ecuatiilor de bilant. Prin medierea statica a acestora se obtin ecuatiile mecanicii mediilor continue. Folosind aceasta rnetoda se propune o noua modelare continua a transportului in medii poroase care permite deducerea legii lui Darcy si a ecuatiilor de transport dependente de porozitate. Aceasta abordare teoretica este folosita pentru determinarea numerica a solutiei ecuatiei parabolice a difuziei in campuri aleatoare de viteze.
In [5] se discuta metoda Misra-Prigogine-Courbage de introducere a ireversibilitatii in descrierea reversibila a mecanicii. Se arata ca spre deosebire de metoda obisnuita aceasta metoda se bazeaza pe folosirea unor procese nedegenerate pentru care spatiul traiectoriilor din spatiul fazelor nu este izomorf cu -spatiul starilor. Aceasta observatie este importanta pentru fundamentarea ecuatiei parabolice de adecvatie-difuzie.
In lucrarile [1] – [3] s-au considerat pro bleme privind analiza asimptotica a solutiilor unor probleme la limita pentru fluxul de volum si gradienti de tensiune. Rezultatele obtinute in cadrul acestui program aduc contriburii importante in domeniul studiat si contribuie la realizarea integrala a obiectivelor pe acest an, din programul 3 de cercetare.

2.Asistent de cercetare Stefan Mircea Soltuz beneficiaza de o bursa pentru doctorat pe perioada 1.05.2001 – 30.06.2004 la Universitatea din Kaiserslautern (Germania) (mentionam ca Stefan Mircea Soltuz este inscris la doctorat si in tara si a sustinut toate examenele si referatele din cadrul programului de pregatire).
3.Cer. pr. gr. III Adrian Muresan participa la un stagiu de cercetare pe perioada 1 noiembrie 2001 – 31 ianuarie 2002 la Universitatea Libera din Bruxelles si inca un stagiu de schimb cultural pe perioada 10 iunie 2001-7 iulie 2001 la Universitatea din Poitiers (Franta) .
