Themes:
  • Numerical methods for solving nonlinear equations, with applications to matrix equations, order of convergence.
  • Numerical methods for differential equations, inverse problems, and data assimilation. Finite element methods, methods based on neural networks. Regularization methods.
  • Interpolation and approximation operators: study of Appell polynomials, Durrmeyer and Kantorovich type operators, and binomial-type polynomials; Stancu-Schurer type extensions for Cheney-Sharma operators. Shepard operators for multidimensional interpolation, with applications to image reconstruction.
  • Ulam-type stability results for partial operators, existence theorems for solutions of abstract evolution equation systems subject to nonlocal initial conditions.

Themes:
  • Establishing convergence criteria for explicit L-schemes for linearizing coupled flow and reactive transport problems in porous media. Exploring the limitations of programming with the Chebfun system for solutions of the Richards equation.
  • Applying spectral collocation methods for the study of nonlinear boundary value and singular eigenvalue problems. Using the Chebfun software package in parallel for comparison. The analytical continuation of solutions.
  • Analyzing time series in astronomy and astrophysics, modeling them with various models, and optimizing the parameters on which these models depend (using global optimization algorithms).
